Basketball Recap: Maxwell Garcon Jr's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gateway over Eau Gallie + How To Watch

Gateway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 62-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eau Gallie Commodores. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Commodores apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Gateway lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Maxwell Garcon Jr, who shot 53% from the field to rack up 21 points. Another player making a difference was Landon Carry, who posted nine points and three steals.

Eau Gallie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joell Rios led the charge by putting up 15 points and five steals. Rios is becoming a predictor of the Commodores' success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 3-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Justice George was another key player, earning 12 points and three steals.

Gateway's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Eau Gallie, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.

Gateway didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 76-41 win against Space Coast on the 31st. As for Eau Gallie, they have also already played their next contest, a 59-42 loss against Westwood on the 31st.
