Softball Game Preview: Port Allegany Gators vs. Oswayo Valley Green Wave

The Port Allegany Gators will take on the Oswayo Valley Green Wave at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Port Allegany has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Port Allegany lost 18-3 to Johnsonburg on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Gators in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost eight in a row.

Port Allegany saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brynn Evens, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run. Alayna McKervey also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Oswayo Valley and Galeton, and Oswayo Valley kept the tradition alive. The Green Wave blew past the Tigers 17-2 last Monday. The Green Wave haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Oswayo Valley's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Port Allegany, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Port Allegany took their win against Oswayo Valley when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 24-11 score. Do the Gators have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Green Wave turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
