Soccer Game Preview: Roanoke Rapids vs. Franklin Academy

The Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Franklin Academy Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Roanoke Rapids comes in on six and Franklin Academy on 23.

Roanoke Rapids is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let East Duplin get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. Casey Neal was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Franklin Academy's game on Thursday was close up to the half, but then they kicked things up a notch. Everything went their way against Seaforth as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The result was nothing new for Franklin Academy, who have now won 18 matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Franklin Academy pushed their record up to 23-0 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those 14 contests. As for Roanoke Rapids, their win bumped their record up to 21-1.

Roanoke Rapids suffered a grim 5-2 defeat to Franklin Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Yellowjackets were down 4-1.
