The Los Fresnos Falcons will take on the Harlingen Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Los Fresnos is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.8 goals per game this season.

Harlingen will be up against a hot Los Fresnos squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Los Fresnos' defense stepped up to hand Veterans Memorial a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Chargers are ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vicente Tamayo and Leo Perez scored both of Los Fresnos' goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Harlingen, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 5-1 margin over Hanna on Tuesday. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 5-0.

Harlingen has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those four games. As for Los Fresnos, they pushed their record up to 13-3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Los Fresnos took their win against Harlingen when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 4-0. Will Los Fresnos repeat their success, or does Harlingen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
