Softball Recap: Federal Way Wins Going Away Against Beamer

Federal Way came out on top against Beamer on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run first inning. The Eagles blew past the Titans 18-6. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Eva Adriano was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off only one hit. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Samantha Jolley was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Haley Aguilar also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Federal Way kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 12.8.

The victory made it two in a row for Federal Way and bumps their season record up to 4-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games. As for Beamer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Federal Way will head out to square off against Kentlake at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
