Baseball Recap: South Salem Saxons vs. West Salem Titans
On Tuesday South Salem's undefeated season almost came to an end. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the West Salem Titans. The Saxons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Titans, too.
Harrison Buckingham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ben Greer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
South Salem hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive contests.
