Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marist). They rang in the new year with a 72-64 win over the Cascade Cougars on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Spartans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Cougars are ranked eighth).

Marist is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Cascade, their defeat ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-1.

Marist will head out on the road to take on North Bend at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. North Bend has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 173 points over their last three contests. As for Cascade, they will face off against Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cascade is facing Springfield at the right time seeing as Springfield is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
