Softball Game Preview: Gosnell Pirates vs. Westside Warriors

The Gosnell Pirates are taking a road trip to square off against the Westside Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gosnell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Gosnell will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Westside, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. The Pirates came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 3-0 on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Pirates as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Not much got past Avery McHan, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Westside off the board. McHan has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gosnell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Moresco, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Gosnell's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Westside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-5.

Gosnell's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Pirates have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game.
