Soccer Game Preview: Progreso vs. Nacogdoches

The Progreso Red Ants will be taking part in a tournament against the Nacogdoches Dragons at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Progreso's offense. They fell just short of Jersey Village by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The loss was Progreso's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Nacogdoches kept a clean sheet against Cypress Ranch on Thursday. They skirted past the Mustangs 1-0. That's two games straight that Nacogdoches have won by just one goal.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Anderson Montes, which was the first he's scored this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Nacogdoches and bumps their season record up to 4-1-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matchups. As for Progreso, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.
