Baseball Recap: Columbia Central's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Columbia Central got themselves on the board against Jonesville on Thursday, but Jonesville never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Comets. The victory was familiar territory for the Golden Eagles, who have now won four matches in a row.

Conor Rentfrow made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Blake Hoskins was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Lukas Calhoun was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Columbia Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive contests.

Columbia Central's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Jonesville, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbia Central will venture away from home to challenge Bedford at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Golden Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Kicking Mules have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Jonesville, they will head out to face off against Reading at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
