Soccer Game Preview: Ilwaco vs. Hoquiam

Ilwaco is 1-8 against Hoquiam since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Fishermen will head out on the road to face off against the Grizzlies at 11:00 a.m. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Ilwaco was handed an eight-goal loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Chief Leschi 3-2.

Meanwhile, Hoquiam had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Beavers.

Hoquiam's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Ilwaco, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-14.

Ilwaco suffered a grim 6-1 defeat to Hoquiam when the teams last played back in March. Can the Fishermen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
