Basketball Recap: Mercy Prep Academy Royals vs. Faustina Academy Falcons
On Tuesday, things could have been worse for Mercy Prep Academy, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-39 loss to the Falcons.
It was another big night for Ben Nelson, who scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and six steals for Faustina Academy. Nelson has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last four times he's played. Matthew Denny was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Mercy Prep Academy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Faustina Academy, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Mercy Prep Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Faustina Academy, they and the Knights will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lakewood Presbyterian has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2.
