Recap: Grapevine Mustangs vs. Harker Heights Knights
The Grapevine Mustangs lost against the Harker Heights Knights back in December of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Grapevine fell 63-50 to Harker Heights. While losing is never fun, Grapevine can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 752nd, while Harker Heights is ranked 43rd).
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Blue Schaper, who scored 14 points. Schaper scored a full 28% of Grapevine's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Sowell, who scored 12 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals.
Grapevine has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Harker Heights, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Grapevine will square off against Pinkston at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Harker Heights, they will head out on the road to face off against Lake Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
