Softball Game Preview: Northside Christian Warriors vs. Notre Dame Pioneers

The Northside Christian Warriors will square off against the Notre Dame Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Northside Christian came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 10-3 to Beau Chene. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Gators recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Welsh a 14-0 shutout. Considering the Pioneers have won 26 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Welsh's batters probably weren't too happy with Bella Smith, who pitched a no hitter (she gave up zero walks). Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Malayna Daigle was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last ten contests. Valerie Brown was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Notre Dame was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in 13 consecutive games.

Notre Dame's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 29-0. As for Northside Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
