Basketball Game Preview: South Lenoir Blue Devils vs. Lejeune Devil Pups

The South Lenoir Blue Devils and the Lejeune Devil Pups will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses dating back to last season for South Lenoir and three for Lejeune.

South Lenoir is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against West Carteret on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. South Lenoir was beaten by West Carteret 64-29. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 535th, while the Patriots are ranked 137th).

Despite the defeat, South Lenoir had strong showings from Tyazhia Midgett, who posted no points along with seven rebounds and six assists, and Makenzie Herring, who went 7 of 17 en route to 15 points. The dominant performance gave Herring a new career-high in points.

Meanwhile, Lejeune had to suffer through a 69-17 loss at the hands of Neuse Charter.

Lejeune's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for South Lenoir, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
