Volleyball Recap: Hilltop Takes a Loss

Hilltop suffered their biggest defeat since March 11th on Wednesday. They lost 3-0 to the Sweetwater Red Devils. If the Lancers were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Red Devils when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Hilltop was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Sweetwater's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-19, 25-23.

Leading Sweetwater to victory were Kalvin Arcedera and Sergio Salazar. Arcedera had 14 digs and five assists, while Salazar had seven digs and one block. Salazar is also crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 12 every time he's taken the court this season.

Hilltop dropped their record down to 6-11 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Sweetwater, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Hilltop has already played their next match (against Montgomery), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Sweetwater, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Virgin Valley on the 4th.
