Recap: Wildwood Wildcats vs. Lake Mary Prep Griffins

If the Wildwood Wildcats were feeling good off their 62-24 takedown of the St. John Lutheran Saints last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wildwood fell just short of Lake Mary Prep by a score of 64-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Despite the defeat, Wildwood saw an underclassman step up: Zayden Garcia scored 20 points along with two steals. Garcia hasn't dropped below 19 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Terriyon Bryant, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.

Lake Mary Prep's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Wade Brashears, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Brashears has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times he's played. Cael Ogden was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Wildwood has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Lake Mary Prep, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.

Wildwood will square off against Dixie County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wildwood is coming into the match with three straight losses on the road, meaning Dixie County will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Lake Mary Prep, they will take on Calvary Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lake Mary Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
