Baseball Preview: Timberland Wolves vs. Lake Marion Gators
Timberland is 8-0 against Lake Marion since March of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Timberland Wolves will head out on the road to take on the Lake Marion Gators at 7:00 p.m. Timberland is no doubt hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Timberland scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 14-6 margin over Academic Magnet. The win was just what Timberland needed coming off of a 15-0 loss in their prior match.
Greg Tumbleston and Bailee Humbert made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Tumbleston pitched an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also only allowed one walk). Meanwhile, Humbert struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. At bat, Tumbleston scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Humbert scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Nicholas Gabel was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Hugh Mitchum was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and a run.
Meanwhile, Lake Marion couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carvers Bay back in March.
