Softball Game Preview: Lyons Lions vs. Montini Catholic Broncos

The Lyons Lions will take on the Montini Catholic Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Lyons has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lyons came up short against Downers Grove South last Wednesday, falling 12-3. The Lions have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Lyons got a good showing from Alyssa Mosqueda, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Lyons saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mary Sandman, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Montini Catholic). They blew past Liberty 17-2 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Broncos, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Montini Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Lyons, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Lyons skirted past Montini Catholic 7-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
