Baseball Game Preview: Post Falls Trojans vs. Lake City Timberwolves

Post Falls is 2-8 against Lake City since April of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Timberwolves at 12:00 p.m.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Post Falls turned things around against Coeur d'Alene on Thursday. They and the Vikings finished up their game with a 6-6 draw.

Meanwhile, Lake City suffered their closest defeat since April 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Sandpoint by a score of 8-6. The Timberwolves' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Lake City got a good showing from Maverick Lanigan, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Lanigan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mark Holecek was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Tanner Franklin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Lake City's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. With that tie, Post Falls' record moves to 4-7-1.
