Baseball Game Preview: Annapolis Panthers vs. Northeast Eagles

The Annapolis Panthers will challenge the Northeast Eagles at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Annapolis turned things around against North County on Friday. They blew past the Knights 11-2. The Panthers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st (when they won 16-1).

Ben Sale spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. Annapolis is 2-1 when Sale allows two or fewer earned runs, but 3-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Annapolis got a big performance out of John Davis, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave Davis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Drew Shallcross, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northeast). They put the hurt on Meade with a sharp 28-1 victory on Friday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.

Annapolis' win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Northeast, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
