East Gaston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They fell 47-36 to the Cherryville Ironmen. One positive for the Warriors, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the defeat, East Gaston saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kayla Maiers posted 16 points. Mallory Gibson was another key player, putting up seven points.

Raylei Gidney was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 27 boards for Cherryville. With that strong performance, Gidney is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Wray, who earned four points and five rebounds.

East Gaston's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Cherryville, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.

East Gaston wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 47-3 defeat against Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy on the 31st. Cherryville has also already played their next contest, a 54-37 loss against Bessemer City on the 31st.
