Softball Recap: De Kalb Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

De Kalb lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Redwater, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. Everything went the De Kalb Bears' way against the Redwater Dragons on Friday as the De Kalb Bears made off with a 13-2 win. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

Kaydee Brown was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, De Kalb got a massive performance out of Mackenzye Carpenter, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. With that strong performance, Carpenter is now averaging an impressive 3.3 RBI per game. Addison Starrett was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

De Kalb kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.

De Kalb is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. Redwater dropped their record down to 3-10-1 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Coincidentally, De Kalb and Redwater will both be playing Queen City the next time they take the field. Redwater will head out to face Queen City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while De Kalb will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
