Baseball Recap: Renton Red Hawks vs. Evergreen Wolverines
Renton extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 20 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They came up short against the Evergreen Wolverines, falling 9-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-2 back in March.
Diego Aguirre made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. David Thor was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
As for Evergreen, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.
On Evergreen's side, Tycean Martin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Martin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Wilder Amechazurra, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Renton will challenge rival Lindbergh at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Evergreen is set to face off against their familiar foe Interlake at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
