Preview: Pendleton Bulldogs vs. Carolina Academy Trojans
The Pendleton Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Carolina Academy Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Pendleton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Monday.
Pendleton struggled with offensive rebounds on Monday (Westside had 1300% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Pendleton fell 47-38 to Westside. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pendleton in their matchups with Westside: they've now lost seven in a row.
Pendleton's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kory Jones, who scored 11 points along with 5 steals, and Luke Gray who scored 11 points along with 4 steals. Gray scored a full 28.9% of Pendleton's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jayden Yeomans was another key contributor, scoring 4 points.
Meanwhile, Carolina Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Liberty.
Pendleton's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Carolina Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Pendleton strolled past Carolina Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2016 by a score of 64-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pendleton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
