Softball Recap: Elsinore Comes Up Short

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Elsinore nor El Camino made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Tigers fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-0. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly two runs.

Leslie Acevedo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Elsinore and nudges their season record down to 8-4. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for El Camino, they moved to 4-7 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Elsinore will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Temescal Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on April 7. As for El Camino, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Morse at 4:00 p.m. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season.
