Baseball Recap: Bravo Drops Highest Score of Season Against Jordan

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bravo). Everything went their way against the Jordan Bulldogs on Friday as they made off with a 17-0 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Anthony Gonzalez and Diego Rodriguez were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gonzalez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rodriguez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bravo is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-8 otherwise. At bat, Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave Gonzalez a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Anthony Chavez looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Bravo let Joshua Torres and Alfredo Orendian run wild. Torres went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Orendian went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Orendian has become a key player for Bravo: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 2-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnathon Montalvo, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Bravo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Bravo's record now sits at 5-9. As for Jordan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Bravo is taking a road trip to challenge Marshall at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Jordan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against View Park at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. The Knights are coming into the match with three straight losses on the road, meaning the Bulldogs will have to defend against a squad out to prove they can win away from home.
