Softball Recap: Cathedral Prep Extends Winning Streak to Three

Cathedral Prep entered their tilt with Girard on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Yellowjackets 7-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-2 on April 9th.

Morgan Madura made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Montagna, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season.

Cathedral Prep's record now sits at 5-2. As for Girard, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Cathedral Prep is set to take on their familiar foe Fairview at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Girard will square off against rival Conneaut Area at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
