Volleyball Recap: Defiance Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Defiance kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Napoleon Wildcats by a score of 3-2. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Napoleon scored at least seven points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 20-25, 15-7.

Isabella Rowlison paced Defiance's offense, picking up 29 kills. Rowlison got some help from Keira Kohn and her 25 assists. Rowlison also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Chloe Bloomfield, racking up three apiece.

Defiance will square off against Ottawa-Glandorf at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Bulldogs their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Napoleon, they will challenge Wauseon at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
