Recap: El Capitan Vaqueros vs. Monte Vista Monarchs
The El Capitan Vaqueros pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monte Vista. El Capitan has struggled against Monte Vista recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, El Capitan saw an underclassman step up: Jason Wilson scored 28 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilson has scored all season. Kayden McMahon was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
El Capitan's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Monte Vista, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-7.
El Capitan will head out on the road to challenge Santana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Santana is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Monte Vista, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mount Miguel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mount Miguel has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
