Volleyball Recap: Shawnee Heights Takes a Loss

Shawnee Heights's tournament run continued when they took on St. Michael the Archangel on Saturday. The Thunderbirds fell just short of the Guardians by a score of 2-1. While the Thunderbirds didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Guardians 25-11 in the first set.

Shawnee Heights actually scored more points across those three sets (62-61), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 11-25, 25-21, 25-16.

Leading St. Michael the Archangel to victory were Bella Roccaro and Mara Franke. Roccaro had ten digs and two assists, while Franke had seven digs and one assist.

Shawnee Heights has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for St. Michael the Archangel, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Shawnee Heights wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Blue Valley Northwest on the 27th. As for St. Michael the Archangel, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Notre Dame de Sion on the 27th.
