Football Game Preview: Holmen Vikings vs. La Crosse Central Riverhawks + Official Tickets

Holmen has won eight straight games at home (dating back to last season), while La Crosse Central has won eight straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Vikings will host the Riverhawks at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Friday, Holmen was fully in charge, breezing past Baraboo 48-7. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin football rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 235th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Holmen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Colin Williams led the charge by rushing for 110 yards and one TD on only six carries.

Williams was just one part of a punishing run game: Holmen was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 266 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Baraboo only rushed for 16.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Crosse Central). They claimed a resounding 57-14 win over Tomah. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Holmen's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for La Crosse Central, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Holmen strolled past La Crosse Central in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 31-14. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Riverhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
