Football Recap: Mexia Comes Up Short

Mexia was the 55-42 winner over Whitney when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Black Cats were outmatched by the Wildcats and fell 59-25. While losing is never fun, the Black Cats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 757th, while the Wildcats are ranked 316th).

This is the second loss in a row for Mexia and nudges their season record down to 1-7. As for Whitney, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mexia is set to challenge their familiar foe Maypearl at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. Meanwhile, Whitney will square off against rival Groesbeck at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
