Recap: Piedmont Highlanders vs. Kennedy Titans

The Piedmont Highlanders fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They managed a 35-29 victory over Kennedy on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Piedmont also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2021.

Sam Shelby continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, picking up 164 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 154 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Shelby is on a roll when it comes to receiving yards, as he's now posted 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Markos Lagios was another key contributor, throwing for 200 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes.

Several Titans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maynard Lorenzo, who rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Lorenzo was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. Adrian Velazquez also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

Piedmont has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Kennedy, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piedmont is on the road again on Saturday and play against American at 1:00 p.m. on October 28th. American is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Kennedy, they will head out on the road to face off against Alameda at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alameda will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
