Baseball Game Preview: The First Academy Royals vs. Lakeland Christian Vikings

For the second straight game, The First Academy will face off against Lakeland Christian. The Royals will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. The First Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last 13 games.

The First Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Lakeland Christian a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Royals have won 20 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Kyle Hopper, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Lakeland Christian off the board. Hopper has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, The First Academy let Austin Pierzynski and Remo Indomenico run wild. Pierzynski went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Indomenico got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. Those three hits gave Pierzynski a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Erick Martinez, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

The First Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeland Christian struck out seven times.
