Baseball Recap: Westminster Finds Home Field Redemption Against Palm Springs

There's no place like home for Westminster, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They never let the Palm Springs Indians get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Thursday. Considering the Lions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jordan Solis was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Westminster is 2-1 when Solis posts three or more hits, but 4-6-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Damian Canul, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Westminster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Westminster's victory bumped their record up to 6-7-1. As for Palm Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Westminster will welcome La Quinta at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Aztecs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Palm Springs, they will take on Santa Ana at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The Saints have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.43 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of.
