Baseball Recap: Waccamaw Drops Season-High Score on Dillon

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Waccamaw). They put the hurt on the Dillon Wildcats with a sharp 13-2 victory on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Diego Patrick looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Waccamaw got a massive performance out of Cameron Craft, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave Craft a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Kerns, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Waccamaw always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Waccamaw's third in a row) raised their record to 8-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Dillon, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-8.

Waccamaw wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-2 loss against Aynor on the 8th. As for Dillon, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Marlboro County on the 8th.
