Football Recap: Melrose Comes Up Short at Home Against Memphis Central

Melrose unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 36-14 to the Memphis Central Warriors on Friday. The matchup was a 8-8 toss-up at halftime, but the Golden Wildcats couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the defeat, Melrose saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Thomas Heffner threw for 194 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 41 yards.

Melrose has already played their next game, a 14-12 win against Fairley on the 29th. As for Memphis Central, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on White Station at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
