Softball Recap: Wabash Victorious

Wabash hadn't done well against North Miami recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Apaches had just enough and edged out the Warriors 8-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kalli Davis was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andi Conliff, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Taylor Zickafoose, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Wabash's record now sits at 7-5. As for North Miami, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wabash will welcome Rochester at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Zebras will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Apaches surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Miami, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Judson-San Pierre at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
