Soccer Game Preview: East Moline United vs. Metamora

The East Moline United Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Metamora Redbirds at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. East Moline United will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, East Moline United needed a bit of extra time to put away Rock Island. They had just enough and edged out the Rocks 2-1.

Yovani Gonzalez and Brayan Amaya scored both of East Moline United's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 19 goals.

Meanwhile, after soaring to eight goals the game before, Metamora was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Roanoke-Benson/Eureka by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Metamora came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Roanoke-Benson/Eureka are ranked 293rd).

East Moline United's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Metamora, their defeat ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5-3.

East Moline United beat Metamora 2-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
