Recap: Show Low Cougars vs. Miami Vandals
It was a good run, but the Show Low Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their 17-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost to Miami on the road by a decisive 55-41 margin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Show Low came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Miami is ranked 55th).
Despite the loss, Show Low still got an impressive performance from Grace Moore, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. Moore set a new season high mark in blocks with four. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Boyce, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Show Low's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 17-1. As for Miami, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Show Low will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Crismon at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Miami and Safford will round out the year against one another at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Safford comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
