Basketball Game Preview: Coram Deo Academy Warriors vs. Unity Christian Knights

Having just played yesterday, the Coram Deo Academy Warriors will get right back to it and host the Unity Christian Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Monday, Coram Deo Academy lost to Quad Cities Christian at home by a 32-14 margin. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Coram Deo Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kailey Booher posted seven points and 17 rebounds. That was a full 50% of the Warriors' points, marking the fourth time in a row Booher has put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Peterson, who had three points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Unity Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 37-33 to Morning Star Academy. The loss put an end to the Knights' undefeated start to the season.

Defeat or not, Unity Christian got some senior leadership from Emily Merema and Julia Van Kampen. Merema dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards, while Van Kampen earned 12 points and three steals. Van Kampen has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Coram Deo Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Unity Christian, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Coram Deo Academy has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 35.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Unity Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 42 boards.
