Basketball Game Preview: Legacy Lions vs. Morningside Academy Eagles (Eddy)

The Legacy Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Morningside Academy Eagles (Eddy) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Legacy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Legacy easily dispatched Lincoln Park Academy on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Lions fell just short of Inlet Grove by a score of 66-64 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 72nd).

Meanwhile, Morningside Academy didn't have too much trouble with Greenacres Christian on Monday as they won 61-46. The win continues a trend for the Eagles (Eddy) in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won six in a row.

Legacy better focus on containing Jaiven Jackson and AJ Chang as the pair were huge in Morningside Academy's win. Jackson dropped a double-double with 26 points and 16 boards, while Chang almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Jackson is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Another player making a difference was Jayden Cabrera, who posted eight points.

Legacy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Morningside Academy, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
