Football Game Preview: Old Bridge Knights vs. Freehold Township Patriots

The Old Bridge Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Freehold Township Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Old Bridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Freehold Township likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Old Bridge made easy work of Colonia and carried off a 42-22 victory. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won six matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Freehold Township played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 37-7 loss at the hands of Manalapan. The contest marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Old Bridge will have to contain Jake Schultzel as he made an impact in Freehold Township's last game. He picked up 122 receiving yards and one TD. Freehold Township is 4-1 when Schultzel posts 80 or more receiving yards, but 1-3 otherwise.

Even if they lost, Freehold Township's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: David Sarcone, Johnathan Kokotis, and Dominick Fiore, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Old Bridge's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.5 points over those games. As for Freehold Township, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-4.
