Basketball Game Preview: Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars vs. Wisner-Pilger Gators

The Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars will head out to face off against the Wisner-Pilger Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast came up into this matchup off a tough 35-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Madison by a score of 38-36 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cougars have suffered since December 12, 2023.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tavyanna Parker, who posted four points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals. Those ten boards gave her a new career-high. Lexus Petersen was another key player, going 5 of 8 to rack up 11 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Wisner-Pilger was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 48-42 to Stanton. That's two games in a row now that the Gators have lost by exactly six points.

Wisner-Pilger has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-12.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast took a serious blow against Wisner-Pilger in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 72-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wisner-Pilger's Emerson Bellar, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards.
