League recap: Chippewa Hills scores huge upset over Big Rapids

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Chippewa Hills, who took down 179th ranked Big Rapids, 31-6. Ty Schafer threw for 97 yards and one touchdown and ran for three yards in the win.

The Warriors moved up to 187 from 262 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Central State. Chippewa Hills climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Cardinals 31-6.

Larry Jose's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Jason Peacock chipped in 78 yards. Shane Travis helped Chippewa Hills' passing attack out by catching two balls for 47 yards.

Mark Miller made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Warriors beat Big Rapids. The senior grabbed two interceptions.

Jake Tarbell provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Chippewa Hills defeated Mitch Cumings' team. He completed six passes for 76 yards and also ran for 47 yards. Tarbell's favorite target this week was Trent Karcher, who caught three passes for 74 yards.

The Warriors' Tarbell and Karcher have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Tarbell has thrown for 1201 yards this season, while Karcher has 42 catches for 1001 yards. Keagan James from Central Montcalm leads the league in rushing with 1134 yards.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Reed City takes on Newaygo. The Coyotes have allowed 143 points this season, while the Lions have given up 149.

Reed City extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Manistee, 48-14. The victory was the 10th in a row for Monty Price's team.
