Softball Recap: Ludlow Takes a Loss

After flying high against Dayton on Thursday, Ludlow came back down to earth. The Panthers fell just short of the Holmes Bulldogs by a score of 10-9 on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 22-17 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Shelby Ralston was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with six stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Burke, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Ludlow's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-7-1. As for Holmes, their victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ludlow will face off against Newport at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Holmes, they will take on Walton-Verona at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bearcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
