Recap: Bothell Cougars vs. Emerald Ridge Jaguars
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Bothell Cougars, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They lost to Emerald Ridge on the road by a decisive 50-36 margin on Friday. Bothell's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it four in a row.
Emerald Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jake Schakel, who threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Schakel is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Navarre Dixon, who rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry.
Bothell's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Emerald Ridge, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Bothell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Emerald Ridge will head out on the road to face off against Kamiakin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kamiakin will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
