Softball Recap: Ruston Starts Season with Victory at Home

Ruston took care of business in their home opener on Monday. They walked away with a 16-11 win over the Haughton Buccaneers. For the Bearcats, this counts as revenge for the 10-3 victory the Buccaneers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

Ruston let Aubrey Stoehr and Morgan Foster run wild. Stoehr went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, three doubles, and two RBI, while Foster went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Gracelyn Underwood was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Haughton's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Bearcats face off against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Haughton, they will venture away from home to take on Lakeside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
