Basketball Recap: Countryside Skates Past Parrish Community with Ease

On Friday, the Countryside Cougars were fully in charge, breezing past the Parrish Community Bulls 56-19. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 20 points or more this season.

Despite the defeat, Parrish Community saw an underclassman step up: freshman Romana Lind dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. Lind has become a key player for Parrish Community: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least eight boards, but 1-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Lee, who posted four points and five rebounds.

Countryside's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Parrish Community, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Countryside will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Clearwater Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Parrish Community will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against Manatee at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Manatee will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Parrish Community surely won't give up without a fight.
